Free stuff in Myeongdong’s M Plaza

So I found a neat new discovery in Seoul while I was shopping in Myeongdong today. Seoul is currently hosting the 2013 Special Winter Olympics as a precursor to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. I saw some of the athletes in there today so I decided to follow them around since they were being lead by Korean tour guides.

We ended up at M Plaza. And on the 5th floor is the Seoul Global Culture and Tourism Center. This is a neat little find because they offer free services for tourist in Korea, like Korean handicrafts programs, traditional paintings program and even a K-pop singing and dancing class. Every Tuesday through Friday, they offer various handicraft activities where you can make things like Korean traditional masks. Classes are held at 11 o’clock and 3 o’clock on those days. On Thursdays at 3PM though, they offer Korean Traditional Painting. The 2013 schedule for K-pop activities hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it should be starting soon!

Also the best part is you can get dressed up in a Korean traditional costume and take pictures for free! You just need to walk into the office, set up a time and then come back later after you do your shopping in Myeongdong.

M Plaza can be found at Myeongdong Station line #4 where Zara is.
